Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has denied rumors that Neymar could join the team in a swap deal with Paris Saint-Germain.
And the French newspaper, Le Parisien, reported that Paris Saint-Germain offered Neymar to Manchester City earlier this summer as part of a reciprocal deal that includes the transfer of Bernardo Silva from City to Saint-Germain.
The report added that Manchester City rejected the proposal, but Guardiola described this account as inaccurate.
“I feel sorry for Le Parisien newspaper, but this is not true, I feel sorry for them, because the information they got is wrong,” Guardiola told reporters in Houston before his team’s game against Club America, in preparation for next season.
He added: “Neymar is a great player, and according to my information, he is a nice person, let him express himself in Paris.”
“Manchester City buy 150 players every summer, which is not true, of course, I feel sorry for Neymar,” Guardiola added, referring to the number of players whose names are associated with Manchester City.
Guardiola reiterated his confidence in Bernardo Silva’s continuation with Manchester City, despite his name being associated with Barcelona.
Manchester City made several notable deals this summer, on top of which was the signing of Norwegian star Erling Haaland, as well as Calvin Phillips, Julian Alvarez and Stefan Ortega Moreno, but Bernardo Silva proved himself as an important player in the team’s midfield.
