Data released by the government of Rio Grande do Sul show that, until 8 am this morning, the measurement of 4.16 meters remained. The flood level at the site is 3 meters.
After several days without rain, the capital of Rio Grande do Sul once again recorded prolonged and intense rainfall throughout last Thursday (May 23). As a result, streets and avenues in some neighborhoods became flooded again, especially in the south and center of the city. Residents had to be evacuated from their homes.
Despite being considered robust, efficient and easy to operate, Porto Alegre’s flood protection system failed because it did not receive permanent maintenance from the city hall and the Municipal Water and Sewage Department. The assessment is made by 42 engineers, architects and geologists.

O Inmet (National Institute of Meteorology) issued a warning of potential danger in Rio Grande do Sul due to drops in temperature. The forecast is for a decline of 3°C to 5°C by 6pm on Sunday (May 26). In Porto Alegre, for example, the temperature this Saturday should vary from 10 °C to 14 °C.
The weather in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul is expected to remain cloudy over the weekend, but there is a chance of further rain at the beginning of the week. The next Monday (27th May) and Tuesday (28th May) are expected to record rain showers and thunderstorms, according to the institute.
