The GT World Challenge weekend ends early for Eliseo Donno and Thomas Fleming, who had to face the second Sprint Cup test of their 2024 season in Misano.
The #71 Ferrari that the two had managed to bring to success in the Silver Cup Class at Brands Hatch is immediately irreparable by the AF Corse mechanics, after Fleming had disastrously left the track during the morning’s Free Practice.
The Briton lost control of the 296 GT3 at Turn 4 ‘Rio’, violently hitting the barriers, breaking through the guard rail and remaining stuck under the rows of tires placed as protection.
The pilot was extracted conscious and initially appeared unharmed, although reasonably sore, but as a precaution it was decided to transfer him by helicopter to the ‘Bufalini’ hospital in Cesena for further and more in-depth examinations.
In the meantime, at the racetrack, the AF Corse mechanics received the Rossa only once the session was over, but once the inspections were completed, the damage was found to be too extensive to proceed with the repairs and continue the weekend in Romagna.
A shame also for Donno, ready to do battle in the home race with his family in tow, but already forced to put everything in his suitcase and act as a spectator, while for Fleming we obviously hope that he can get back in the car as soon as possible and show his his value together with his Apulian teammate.
