The renovated Autodromo Nazionale di Monza saw Maserati protagonist in both races of the fifth seasonal appointment of the GT2 European Series.
In Race 1, the House of the Trident monopolized the podium with three cars in the first three places. The victory went to the Leonardo Gorini-Carlo Tamburini duo at the wheel of the Maserati GT2 number 1 fielded by LP Racing, who preceded Alexandre Leroy (number 24 of TFT Racing), author of the pole position and winner in the AM class.
Third step of the podium for Philippe Prette (on the number 2 of LP Racing), which also earned him second place in his class.
In Race 2, Gorini-Tamburini achieved an important second place in a comeback, a result that allows them to still fight for the overall victory in the championship.
Philippe Prette, on the other hand, was unlucky as he was on his way to finishing in fourth place and at the top of the AM class: due to a puncture during the last lap he finished ninth, fourth in the class.
Finally, Leroy was forced to retire due to contact with an opponent.

A fourth Maserati GT2 also made its debut in the GT2 European Series at the Monza event, fielded by Dinamic Motorsport with drivers Mauro Calamia and Roberto Pampanini, which unfortunately was unable to finish Race 1 due to an accident that prevented it from lining up in the following race.
The Maserati GT2s were the immediate protagonists at the start of Race 1 behind poleman Alexandre Leroy. After a Safety Car phase, the cars from the Trident House took the first three positions, with Gorini able to overtake both Prette and Leroy first.
The situation crystallized after the pit-stop phase, with Tamburini gaining further ground and consolidating his first position, finishing ahead of Leroy and Prette, for an all-Maserati podium.
The second race sees Gorini-Tamburini facing a comeback race, due to a problem in qualifying that forces them to start from the back. Tamburini starts off at a great pace and in a few laps moves up to second position.
Prette and Leroy also aim for the podium and decide to pit at the beginning of the window. Unfortunately, Leroy is forced to abandon due to a contact in the first chicane, while Prette is the victim of a puncture on the last lap that demotes him to ninth place.
Gorini, who had taken over from Tamburini in the No. 1 Maserati GT2, was getting closer and closer to the leader, only just failing to catch him on the final lap.
With the second place, however, Gorini-Tamburini keep open the fight for the overall victory in the last round in Barcelona scheduled from 11 to 13 October. Prette and Leroy can also still win the title in the AM class.

The new Maserati GT2 Stradale super sports car was also presented in European preview at Monza over the weekend.
The car, officially unveiled last August in California during the prestigious Monterey Car Week, is a hymn to the most extraordinary and exclusive sportiness, the result of the technical and stylistic union between the Maserati GT2, the maximum expression of performance created for the Brand’s return to closed-wheel racing, and the Maserati MC20, the iconic Trident car characterised by an unmistakable style.
The GT2 Stradale is a car born on the track and approved for road use, capable of combining the extreme and refined performance of the racing world with the possibility of daily driving.
It is the best of the MC20 and GT2, representing Maserati’s racing DNA: the top speed is 324 km/h, the maximum power has been increased to 640 HP (471 kW), 10 HP more than the MC20, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds makes it the fastest RWD (rear-wheel drive) in its category.
On the track at Monza together with Maserati GT2 and GT2 Stradale could not miss the interpreter of the most absolute exclusivity of the Italian brand: MCXtrema. The 740 HP racing car, approved for track use only and dedicated to the excellence of gentleman drivers and racing car enthusiasts, is a car produced in just 62 units.
To conclude the sporting season, Maserati will be busy with its GT2s in the last round of the 2024 GT2 European Series season scheduled from 11 to 13 October in Barcelona, Spain.
