The rector of the UMU, José Luján, highlights “the importance of knowledge transfer and alliances between universities and companies and organizations in the Region”
The Mare Nostrum Campus of Excellence, promoted by the University of Murcia and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena with the support of the Autonomous Community, presented the Mare Nostrum Campus of International Excellence Awards on Monday, in a ceremony that took place in the Regional Archive of Murcia and that has had the presence of the rector of the UMU, José Luján; of the rector of the UPCT, Beatriz de Miguel; and the president of the Autonomous Community, Fernando López Miras. Grupo Fuertes, the ‘startup’ Biyectiva Technology and Navantia were awarded in the first edition of the awards.
Grupo Fuertes received the Initiative award from the University of Murcia. The business group’s link to the UMU materializes in numerous collaborations in the field of research and in the chairs of Business Excellence and Food Safety and Sustainability. Rector Luján presented the award to Tomás Fuertes, president of Grupo Fuertes and doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Murcia.
Navantia was awarded at the proposal of the Regional Executive for its participation in research projects and for being a recipient of university talent, while ‘Biyective Technology’ was selected by the UPCT for its commitment to innovative technologies in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
The Mare Nostrum Campus of International Excellence works to strengthen the public university system, through the collaboration of universities with companies and other research centers, in order to promote collaborative R&D&i and the external projection of the universities.
