VIDEOA group of ten rescue workers who are looking for the Belgian tourist Natacha de Crombrugghe (28) stop working. The rescuers had asked the authorities for logistical support, but it never came. In the meantime, the Belgian federal prosecutor’s office is considering sending agents to Peru to follow the search.

The rescuers wanted to comb the route between Sangalle and San Juan de Chuchco. The team now has to make a seven-hour journey and had therefore requested transport. However, this turned out to be impossible to achieve. The rescuers also asked for fuel so they could travel by car themselves. That too proved unsuccessful.
Since the start of the search for Natacha, the rescuers have had to pay for almost everything themselves, they say. For example, the authorities did not pay for accommodation, transport and food, rescuer Joel Quicaña told local media.
Possible Belgian agents to Peru
In the meantime, about thirty agents continue to search for Natacha. The Belgian federal prosecutor’s office is also investigating whether it is useful to send a delegation, consisting of Belgian agents, to Peru to investigate the disappearance.
“That is a decision that is taken in consultation between the federal prosecutor’s office, the federal judicial police, the Foreign Affairs government and the Peruvian authorities,” said Eric Van Duyse, spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office in Brussels.
Missing for 19 days
Natacha de Crombrugghe, a 28-year-old lawyer from Linkebeek, was on a tour in Peru. On Sunday evening, January 23, she arrived at the hostel La Estancia in the village of Cabanaconde. From there many tourists start hikes to the famous ‘Colca Canyon’, a deep expansive gorge in the south of the country. Previously, Natacha visited the historic mountain town of Machu Picchu.
The young woman was traveling alone, the manager of the hostel in Cabanaconde told the police. The next day, the Brussels girl would have left for the trek through the Colca Canyon. Even now she left alone. Natacha left some of her luggage at the hostel, but never returned from her hiking trip. The Belgian has been missing for nineteen days now.
