The American basketball player has been detained in a Russian prison since she was found in possession of cannabis oil at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport in February.
The American basketball player Brittney Griner has pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him by the court of Khimki, in which she is charged with possession and drug trafficking. She the athlete was arrested in February after she was found in possession of cannabis oil vaporizer cartridges at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport following a search.
The confirmation of the admission of guilt has reached the CNN by the lawyers of Griner: he risks up to 10 years in prison. His lawyer Alexander Boykov asked for “the softest possible sentence”. He said Griner “appreciated” receiving a letter from US President Joe Biden, who on Wednesday said he would make it “a priority” to take her home. Moscow responded, saying the US “hype” about Griner would not help her case. The next hearing is set for July 14th.
