Genoa – It will be called “Grendi Futura” the third ship in the Grendi group's fleet, the first owned, which scores the return to direct armament of the company after more than ten years (click here for the article)arrived in dock yesterday in Genoa, where it will remain for a month for a series of maintenance works and the change of livery.
“With this operation – comments Antonio Musso, CEO of Grendi Trasporti marittimi – the group returns to direct ownership, confirming the company's long-term commitment to constantly improving its offering of connections and services. Grendi Futura will be used both on national routes to Sardinia and international routes to North Africa”.
The choice to rename the “Wedellsborg” ship, 180 meters long, built in 2014, “Grendi Futura” flying the Italian flagalready rented to the company and used for the transport of containers and rolling stock between the terminals of Marina di Carrara, Olbia, Cagliari and North Africa, was won by a large majority with an online vote by employees, customers and suppliers of the group integrated logistics.
The purchase, already announced in March, was completed through the subsidiary Nav.Co, a newly established company based in Genoa and controlled 51% by Grendi Trasporti Marittimi and 49% by Finaval. The operation, with a total value of approximately 34 million euroswas financed for 70% of the amount by Crédit Agricole Italia as agent bank and by Banca Popolare di Sondrio.
