Japan goes on the offensive. But this isn’t about the footballers who duped Spain and Germany in Qatar recently because the Europeans might not have taken them seriously enough. Grand Seiko, the luxury brand of the large watch group from the land of the rising sun, is also often underestimated in this country. There, and also in North America, Grand Seiko moves in the spheres of the Swiss luxury brands Rolex and Omega.
This is not yet perceived as such in Europe, but it only has to do to a limited extent with the fact that European watch buyers are conservative or even slow-witted. Rather, the Japanese have so far been far too polite to openly put themselves on the same level as the Swiss brands mentioned. Furthermore, one finds out in conversations that even watch connoisseurs are not clear what is actually behind the brand from the huge group.
