There is nothing to be done: even in the last test in Mandalika it was once again David Alonso. The Colombian, despite having recovered from a fall last Friday which did not guarantee him a perfect physical shape, crossed the finish line in front of everyone for the ninth time this season, equaling the record of the most victories in the series which belonged to Romano Fenati, who stopped at 13th. Furthermore, with Collin Veijer’s crash which occurred while the Dutchman was leading the race, Alonso ‘risks’ becoming world champion as early as next weekend in Motegi, given his advantage of 97 points which he boasts over Holgado.
Race report
Alonso who, at least in the early stages of the match, did not actually appear to be one of the main protagonists. After Furusato’s excellent start, already during the first lap Veijer took the lead of the GP ahead of the Japanese, Fernandez and Alonso himself, who moved up due to the double long lap penalty imposed on poleman Ortolà. A top-4 that remained unchanged for just over ten laps, or until the sensational Veijer’s fall which occurred in the twelfth round, when the Dutchman was still leader of the race. A jolt that allowed the riders behind him to battle for the victory and the podium, in a fight that also included an Italian rider like Luca Lunetta. In the end, Alonso once again prevailed, ahead of Adrian Fernandez and David Muñoz, with Lunetta having to settle for fifth place despite some spectacular overtaking that had temporarily put him in the lead of the race.
