MotoGP Catalonia, Bagnaia starts off on the right foot
The best Ducati on Friday is Francesco’s Bagnaia. On a day in which unusually the Borgo Panigale factory did not occupy any of the top three positions, the world champion finished the Montmeló tests in 4th place, ahead of Jorge Martin (6th) and Marc Marquez who for the second consecutive time will have to face Q1. A “Pecco” already in place, therefore, who can look forward to tomorrow’s qualifications and Sprints with confidence.
Bagnaia’s words
“It was a positive day. Since we settled down in Jerez we can immediately be quite incisive and to do a good job“, this is the comment to Sky Sports MotoGP. “Already this morning we improved, obviously here you struggle to make steps forward because here the grip is the worst of the season in terms of gap, but I’m happy“.
“The race pace is good and we were fast in the time attack, even if it wasn’t super. On Saturday it will be important to be able to start from the front and try to do the first laps quite strongly in the Sprint. In my opinion we can take another step forward tomorrow. I feel good about the Sprint, even in the last two we were fast but we had various misfortunes. Today we finally managed to fix the bike that wasn’t working at Le Mans, and it was a good step because it wasn’t working this morning either. We did it and we know the potential is high“.
“The GP24 is very good when braking and turning in, but compared to the GP23 it has less grip. The GP23 lapped a little less because it had more grip, and on this track it helps. But on the balance it is very similar, we have seen the data and there is not much difference. We could have pushed a little more, especially in the time attacks, but it’s nothing that can’t be fixed for tomorrow“.
