Last Friday, January 26, 2024, a document began to circulate with the personal information of more than 300 journalists from Mexico who have attended the President's morning conferences. Now, today, Andrés Manuel López Obrador confirmed that this information is legitimate, and that the Government of our country suffered from a cyber attack.
During today's morning conference, The President of Mexico confirmed that the document, with the personal information of 319 journalists, is the result of a hacker attack that, the politician did not rule out, could well be the result of the opposition. This is what he commented:
“They hacked the morning computers and took information. They take the data, big scandal.
Yes, security failed or the hackers were very good. Remember that our adversaries have a lot of money and can hire the most specialized criminals in this area in the world.”
During the course of today, January 29, a report will be delivered on the leaked database and that the Ministry of the Interior will provide support to the people who saw their data leaked. Although the President assured that this information is protected, No additional information was shared about how this data is protected.
This is not something new, let's remember that in 2019, E3 also suffered from a cyber attack, which stole the personal information of journalists who attended the event. Unfortunately, it seems that this will not be the last time something like this happens. On related topics, Guadalajara is the best city with internet in Mexico. Likewise, these are the best cities to see the eclipse in the country.
Editor's Note:
It's a real shame that this happens. In a country like Mexico, where the life of a journalist who focuses on politics can be at risk, this information must be protected in the best way and, regardless of who is responsible, the government's first priority must be protect journalists.
