The National Consumer Secretariat, of the Ministry of Justice, asks operators for clarification after receiving 2,025 complaints
A Senacon (National Consumer Secretariat), linked to the MJSP (Ministry of Justice and Public Security), notified 20 health plan operators about unilateral contract cancellations. Companies have 10 days to send clarifications about the case.
The measure, announced this Friday (May 24, 2024), takes place after the ANS (National Supplementary Health Agency) receive a high number of complaints: 2,050 in total.
According to the secretariat, consumers complain about not being able to look for alternatives after contracts are terminated quickly. The concern is mainly with beneficiaries who require continuous assistance.
For the National Consumer Secretary, Wadih Damous, the operators’ action is “unacceptable”.
“We are taking rigorous measures to ensure that these abuses are curbed and that beneficiaries have their needs met with dignity and respect”he said.
