According to agency sources, Gorbachev passed COVID-19, since the beginning of the pandemic he has been under the supervision of doctors at the Central Clinical Hospital. The cause of death of the politician was illness.
Late in the evening of August 30, the Central Clinical Hospital reported that Gorbachev had died at the age of 92 after a severe and prolonged illness.
It is noted that he will be buried at the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow, in a family burial next to his wife.
The hospitalization of Gorbachev became known in June. At the same time, the Central Clinical Hospital noted that he was in a stable condition.
Information appeared on the Web that Gorbachev had kidney problems. Due to the periodic deterioration of his condition, doctors had to do hemodialysis.
Mikhail Gorbachev is a Soviet and Russian state, political, party and public figure. He held the post of Secretary General of the Central Committee of the CPSU from 1985 to 1991. From 1988 to 1989 he was the last chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, from 1989 to 1990 – the first chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. In addition, he is the first and only president of the USSR – from 1990 to 1991.
In 1990 Gorbachev received the Nobel Peace Prize.
