The bad news is piling up for the technology giant this week, first it was that the US Justice has prepared the first plan for the dismantling of the company with the intention of ending the monopoly they have on the Internet, first forcing them to unlink from the Chrome browser.
And now, OpenAI is considering building a new web browser that will be supported by its ‘chatbot’, with the one you search compete with Google Chrome and its Gemini model. A month ago, the company launched web search in ChatGPT, SearchGPT, a functionality that it began working on at the beginning of this year also with the aim of offering an alternative to the engine provided by Google, as The Information reported at the time.
The differential characteristic of this engine is that allows you to consult the sources of information for searches through the ‘Sources’ buttonwhich is placed below the answers given by your ‘chatbot’. This medium has now indicated that OpenAI also considered developing its own browser, in which ChatGPT will be natively integrated and with which it seeks to offer an alternative to Google, Chrome and Gemini services.
At the moment, no more information has been provided about this service, although OpenAI believes that developing a web browser would boost the use of its ‘chatbot’, according to people related to the firm. At the same time it is believed that OpenAI has started negotiating with Samsungwhich is a business partner of Google, to reach an agreement similar to the one it has with Apple and enhance AI functions in devices from the South Korean manufacturer.
