Mexico.- A few months ago the reform made to the Mexican Constitution for him Union Congress where it was approved remove known daylight saving timearguing that it did not bring benefits to the economy and health problems.
Under this framework, there were not a few people in Mexico who On Sunday, April 2 of this year, they woke up and noticed that their cell phones and other mobile devices marked one more hour., which caused a lot of confusion and chaos. Now, Google talks about it.
It was last October 2022 when, after being validated by the members of the Federal Legislative Power, the President Andrés Manuel López Obrador published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) the decree by which the time change in the Mexican Republic was eliminated.

With said reform, from this 2023 the clock will not have to advance one hour when summer time enters, nor should it be “backward” when winter time enters, since these no longer exist in the country.
However, many woke up on Sunday, April 2, with an hour left on their cell phones, tablets, and computers, especially with Android and Windows operating systems, which were the most affected devices.
Google finally talks about the error in ‘time change’ on Android and gives recommendations
After the confusion, the technology giant Google issued a series of recommendations to prevent users in Mexico from going through a similar situation again in the near or distant future.
But before, the American company affirmed that they recently sent an update to the Nest and Chromecast deviceswhich were affected by the change that occurred in the Law of time zones in Mexico.
In this vein, the company stated that the modifications will be carried out progressively in the coming days, without the need for users to move a single finger on the screens.
It should be mentioned that the Global Database of Time Zones, known as IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) was modified after the decree with the reform was published, being in charge of cell phones and electronic devices showing the correct time in a certain time zoneaccording to what was explained by Google.
Nevertheless, not all devices have the necessary information to prevent the clock from changing automaticallyjust as it happened with the seasonal schedule at the beginning of April.

Given this, Google advised that, in order not to repeat this confusing situation, set the time manually to cell phones and other devices, especially Android.
To set the time manually, you just have to go to “Settings”, and then select “Date and time”, after which the options “Automatic date and time” as well as “Automatic time zone” must be activated.
