Andrea Vendrame (Decathlon AG2R) won the 19th stage of the 107th edition of the Giro d’Italia, the 157 kilometer Mortegliano-Sappada after a solitary breakaway.
Vendrama’s escape lasted about thirty kilometres. Behind him, completing the podium, separated by about a minute, were Pelayo Sanchez (Movistar Team), second and Georg Steinhauser (EF).
Tadej Pogacar remains pink jersey of the Giro d’Italia even after the 19th stage, the 157 km Mortegliano-Sappada. The group with the Slovenian champion of the UAE Team arrived 15’57” behind the winner of the day. At the end, a slip by Geraint Thomas, of Ineos Grenadiers, who promptly got up and recovered.
The general classification remains unchanged with Pogacar firmly in command. The 20th stage is scheduled for tomorrow, the last mountain one, from Alpago to Bassano del Grappa of 184.0 km.
