German researchers suspect that a Berlin doctor has murdered eight elderly patients who was in charge of later setting fire to some of their houses to cover up their crimes, the Prosecutor’s Office reported this Thursday and quotes Reuters.
The alleged murderer, 40 years old and whose name is unknownworked for palliative care in a nursing service. In August he was taken into custody amid suspicions of murdering four women, aged between 72 and 94, and then burning their homes.
According to police reports, the man was being investigated. for four counts of involuntary manslaughteranother for arson and three for attempted arson. Specifically, those murdered were female patients from its nursing service in Berlin, between June 11 and July 24. In one of these cases, one of the victims, 87 years old, was resuscitated, although he ended up dying in the hospital.
In another of the murders, the suspect had allegedly started the fire, although it was eventually put out. “Upon realizing this, the accused notified a relative of the woman and told him that he was in front of her house, ringing the doorbell and that no one answered.”
Berlin prosecutors have now linked this suspect with four other deaths of men and women between 61 and 83 years old. “The accused seems to have no motive to kill these people other than to kill them,” they said, while accusing him of “lust for murder.”
In the remaining four cases, which occurred between June 2022 and April 2024, the suspect is accused of killing two men and two women. In one of them, the accused administered a ‘cocktail’ of medicines to his victimand later set fire to the house, as he usually did. The firefighters, notified by a neighbor of the building, managed to put out the flames and prevent them from spreading to the rest of the building.
He is also accused of fatally administering medication to two men, aged between 70 and 83, and a 61-year-old woman.
