Georgian Prime Minister Kobakhidze condemns police beating of protesters in Tbilisi
Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze condemned the beating by police of citizens protesting against the bill on foreign agents, which is scheduled to be adopted on May 14. His words lead TASS.
“I really don’t like such incidents. I once again urge everyone to meet any provocations with maximum tolerance,” said the Prime Minister of Georgia.
Earlier it was reported that the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs detained 20 people, including citizens of Russia and the United States, at a rally against the law on foreign agents. The detainees violated two articles of the country’s Criminal Code.
On May 8, the State Security Service (SSS) of Georgia stated that foreign countries support provocations at protests against the law on foreign agents. According to the State Security Service, citizens of the country abroad are involved in organizing provocations, including those who went to Ukraine and are ready to return to participate in clashes with the police.
