General Venancio Aguado joins the Valencian Vice Presidency of Recovery as secretary after DANA

The Brigadier General Venancio Aguado de Diegoin a reserve situation, has been appointed as regional secretary of the cabinet of the Valencian vice president in charge of Economic and Social Recovery, Francisco José Gan Pampols. This appointment is part of the tasks of the Valencian Government to coordinate the reconstruction of the areas affected by DANA on October 29, as announced by the Consell.

The Vice Presidency will have among its functions the design of a recovery plan and the coordination of the reconstruction work in the affected areas, which is why it will also be responsible for presiding over the Interdepartmental Commission in charge of organizing and coordinating all the departments of the Consell oriented to the reconstruction process of the affected regions. In addition to developing a protection plan for face possible natural disasters that pose risks to the population.

Aguado, born in 1961, entered the General Military Academy with the XL Promotion and was promoted to infantry lieutenant in 1985. Throughout his career, he has held various positions in mountain units in Jaca, Donostia and Pamplona, ​​and completed the General Staff course in the position of commander.

During his time as lieutenant colonel, Aguado worked in the Operations Division of the Army General Staff and later was Chief of Staff of the Mountain Hunter Brigade. In 2012, as colonel, he directed the Garellano Regiment 45 in Bizkaia and assumed the Chief of Staff of the Intelligence Center of the Armed Forces.

In 2016, he was promoted to brigadier general, leading the Canary Islands Operational Brigade. It has also played an important role in international missions, participating in NATO operations in Kosovo and Afghanistanas well as in the United Nations mission in Lebanon, where in 2017 he directed the Eastern Sector.

This appointment comes after the announcement that Francisco José Gan Pampols, retired lieutenant general, will lead the Vice Presidency for Economic and Social Recovery in the Valencian Community. Together with Aguado, he will be in charge of managing measures aimed at rebuilding areas affected by recent natural disasters.
