JERUSALEM. The sister of Ismail Hanyieh, the political leader of Hamas, was recently treated in an Israeli hospital. According to what the Jerusalem Post, the woman would have been hospitalized in recent days at the Soroka hospital in Beer Sheva, in southern Israel, due to a high-risk pregnancy. The woman gave birth to a premature baby and received life-saving treatment. Another family member of Ismail Hanyieh was hospitalized in 2021 at Ichilov, a hospital facility in Tel Aviv.
The Hamas leader, who lives in Doha and is considered one of the richest men in the area, has thirteen children, two brothers and eight sisters, three of whom are married to Israeli citizens, Negev Bedouins, and live in Tel Sheva. They are part of one of the most respected Bedouin families, Abu Rakik.
Hanyieh's three sisters do not have Israeli citizenship but have Palestinian documents residing in Israel. Their life in Tel Sheva has always been low profile and reserved, avoiding any contact with the press, even giving up celebrating their brother's appointment as Palestinian prime minister in 2006 and then leader of Hamas in 2017.
In 2004, the head of Hamas in Gaza, Yaya Sinwar, was imprisoned in Israeli prisons and, following physical problems, he underwent medical checks which revealed the presence of a brain tumor, which was operated on by doctors from the Jewish country, saving his life. Sinwar is considered the mastermind of the October 7 massacre.
