Gian Piero Gasperini, coach of the Italian team Atalanta, confirmed that he just wants to enjoy the moment, following his team’s great victory over its English host, Liverpool, in the European Football League championship.
Atalanta is on the verge of qualifying for the “Golden Square” in the continental competition, after achieving a resounding surprise with its great 3-0 victory over Liverpool, in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the tournament.
It is enough for Atalanta to lose by two goals in the return match, which will be held at its stadium next Thursday, to qualify for the semi-finals and continue its journey in the tournament.
However, Gasperini warned that his team had only accomplished half the task. Gasperini said: “Tonight was amazing. I did not make any changes until 10 minutes from the end, because it is difficult to change anything in a team that lasted until the 90th minute in the best way.”
The Italian team coach added in his statements reported by the British news agency, PA Media, after the match that was held at Anfield: “It is okay to celebrate such a victory, but we all realize that we will have to overcome everything within 7 days in Bergamo. Because Liverpool is a really strong team, and it can turn the tables and score goals quickly.”
Gasperini said, “We have to play another very precise match in every aspect, and repeat what we did in the first leg, because nothing has been decided, but our superiority in the first leg makes us hope for the best.”
