His Excellency Dr. Anwar bin Muhammad Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to His Highness the President of the State, affirmed that the disgraceful actions of extremists towards the Holy Qur’an highlight the difference in the system of values between societies and show imbalance in dealing with them, while some systems protect these actions under the pretext of freedom of opinion and promote their values as a human reference .
His Excellency added in a tweet on his Twitter account: “Protecting and respecting beliefs is a priority that civilized societies must guarantee.”
For its part, the General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars in Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the act of an extremist in the Netherlands tearing up a copy of the Noble Qur’an in the Dutch city of The Hague.
And the secretariat said, in a statement reported by the Saudi Press Agency, “SPA”, yesterday, “This barbaric behavior is condemned, and it is an insult to all Muslims.” The Secretariat called on “the whole world to condemn these repeated actions, and to enact regulations and legislation that criminalize them, in the service of peace, tolerance and coexistence.”
Meanwhile, Adel bin Abd al-Rahman al-Asoumi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, strongly condemned the act of an extremist in the Netherlands to tear up a copy of the Noble Qur’an, warning of the danger of such actions as they fuel feelings of violence and hatred and provoke millions of Muslims around the world, as they constitute a blatant challenge to the Islamic world. It is inconsistent with the rules of international human rights.
