Based on what was reported by several sources, it appears that GameStopat least in the USA, is about to open buying and selling Of Pokémon cards at the chain’s stores, but this will happen through a highly regulated system, depending on the rarity of the cards in question.
The sale will be linked to an evaluation of the cards by third parties, in order to guarantee the most precise and truthful evaluation of the objects possible: in this case, the cards can be purchased from GameStop stores only if they are evaluated through the PSA system.
The Professional Sports Authenticator is a standard considered universally valid for obtaining an independent evaluation on value of playing cards and collectibles, and only through this system will it be possible to access the sale of cards at GameStop.
A collaboration between GameStop and PSA
In particular, the cards must have a minimum rating of 8, therefore between 8 and 10, in order to be purchased. This means they will have to be practically in Perfect conditionsalmost new, to be taken into consideration for the sale.
In any case, however, GameStop will not be able to purchase cards from value greater than $500according to what has been reported by various sources, it will therefore not be possible to present oneself with particularly rare and expensive cards, because they will not be taken into consideration anyway.
It seems that this is an explicit collaboration between GameStop and PSA, therefore the entire evaluation system is necessarily supported by that of Professional Sports Authenticator, and it seems that it is also destined to expand to other collectible card games with cards that can be evaluated through this system
It also seems that it will also be possible to buy cards, but in this case not only rare cards, given that GameStop should also sell single $1 cards. It is not clear whether the initiative is destined to expand outside the USA.
