The G7 summit officially began on Sunday noon at Elmau Palace in the southern German state of Bavaria, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz received heads of state and government of the group’s countries.
Schulz and his wife, Britta Ernst, welcomed distinguished guests to Ellmau Palace, set amidst the magnificent mountain scenery of the Bavarian Alps.
The first working session is scheduled to take place immediately after the official welcome ceremony.
The Group of Seven includes the seven most powerful economies in the world, which are Germany, the United States of America, France, Britain, Italy, Canada and Japan.
European Union Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will also participate in the summit.
Schulz invited five countries to host the summit, which will continue until next Tuesday, namely India, Indonesia, South Africa, Senegal and Argentina.
