Fujairah Municipality Director, Engineer Mohammed Al-Afkham, confirmed the readiness and ability of specialized emergency teams to respond immediately to reports in emergency situations resulting from weather fluctuations and rainfall in all regions of the emirate.
He said that the municipality is adopting an integrated proactive system of measures that include effective rain drainage and thoughtful distribution of machinery and equipment, with the aim of preventing the accumulation of large quantities of rainwater on internal and main roads, and near residential areas, in order to prevent this water from reaching residential areas, and to preserve Safety of residents and their property.
He added that the municipality’s call center works around the clock with high efficiency, with the aim of achieving the maximum levels of response and in record time to process reports, especially with regard to rainwater accumulations and the challenges resulting during cases of weather instability, such as falling trees and others, noting that the center responded to 826 calls. An emergency notification since the beginning of this year.
Al-Afkham stated that the call center works to respond to customers’ inquiries, submit and follow up on their requests, as well as receive reports of emergency cases and deal with them, via interactive voice response or by speaking to the call center employees.
For its part, the administrations of private and public schools in the Emirate of Fujairah confirmed that they are ready to switch from the in-person system to the “remote” system, which enabled them to face the challenges of the unstable circumstances yesterday, and the continuation of the “remote” classes, while the in-person system is scheduled to resume.
