The Tennis Federation announced that it is organizing the first edition of the Elite Championship, in cooperation with the Fujairah Tennis Club, during the period from May 24 to 31. The tournament will be open to men, with the participation of the best players in the country, as the initial list witnessed the participation of the game’s brightest stars, led by the two Emirati players Omar. Behrouzian and Hamad Al-Janahi.
The tournament is being organized in Fujairah due to the club’s distinguished stadiums, facilities and installations, and after it received the approval of the young players, according to an official report of the International Tennis Federation.
In turn, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fujairah Tennis Club, Abdul Ghafour Bahrozyan, welcomed holding the tournament at the club’s courts, which are among the elite and distinguished stadiums in the country, stressing that the club’s management is keen to be at the highest degree of readiness to receive the competitions, expressing his happiness for the Tennis Federation’s confidence in the club. Fujairah, especially since most of the former and current national team players have a close connection to the club through the international tournaments it hosts annually.
In the same context, Nasser Yousef Al Marzouqi, Secretary General of the Tennis Federation, described the Elite Championship as a mission, stressing that the Tennis Federation is happy to launch the Elite Championship Series from Fujairah due to its high readiness and the great support provided by the club for the game.
He continued: The series of tournaments provides important opportunities for interaction, especially for the national team players, who are waiting to participate in the Davis Cup tournament, to raise the technical level of tennis in the country in general, and it is expected to hold a maximum of 8 elite tournaments per season.
