According to the agency, another person involved in the case, businessman Vazgen Babakhanyan, was also released from the pre-trial detention center. He was elected to prohibit certain actions. The court did not disclose the reasons for the mitigation of the preventive measure.
Deputy Kravchenko, Lieutenant Colonel Artem Sokhin, and an employee of the unit, Major Sergei Romano, accused in the same criminal case, remained in custody.
The FSB officers were charged under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Fraud on an especially large scale”). According to the investigation, in 2017-2019, the defendants entered into contracts with the Stavropol firm AsStroy, which was headed by Vazgen Babakhanyan.
According to the state defense order, a collapsible warehouse complex was to be installed in Vorkuta, but the obligations were not fulfilled. The damage amounted to 63.5 million rubles.
