Excited by the news of the interpretation of his work, Héctor Ramos said that this First cantiga of Santa María He wrote it for his mother, because as her last wish before dying, she asked him for it.
“My mother asked me for this first song, my mother on her deathbed, He asked me to write a piece dedicated to the Virginso that’s why I wrote it […] And it is a great pleasure for me to have fulfilled that wish and even more so, that it is going to be sung.”
Old songs that were never stopped singing
Ramos explained that the songs of Santa María They are a collection of music that Alfonso X the Wisewho was king of Castile, asked his notaries as a collection.
