The Government will offer direct aid of up to 60,480 euros to households affected by DANA so that they can repair the damage caused by the floods. Only families who have suffered the total destruction of their habitual residence will be able to access the maximum amount, as specified this Tuesday by the Ministry of Housing after announcing the measure by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, at the press conference after the Council of Ministers in which the green light has been given to an aid package of 10.6 billion euros to cover homes, companies and town councils.
Regarding housing and neighborhood communities, The aid will be distributed in this wayas explained by Isabel Rodríguez’s department:
-For total destruction of the habitual residence: 60,480 euros.
-For damage that affects the structure of the habitual residence: 41,280 euros.
-For damage that does not affect the structure of the habitual residence: 20,640 euros.
-For destruction or damage to essential household goods in the habitual residence: 10,320 euros.
-For damage to common elements of general use of a Community of Owners under a horizontal property regime: 36,896 euros.
Applications for the granting of this aid will be submitted within two months from the entry into force of the Royal Decree-Law approved this Tuesday by the Council of Ministers. The resolution of the applications will fall to the Government subdelegations corresponding to the competition and the income threshold to access these subsidies is eliminated. The aid will go to 75 municipalities in the Valencian Community, 2 in Castilla-La Mancha and one in Andalusia.
The measure will require owners to prove ownership of the properties affected by the incidents and will admit as a means of proof any document that demonstrates said ownership, such as, for example, receipts for payment of the Real Estate Tax (IBI). As explained by Housing, for homes that do not have insurance coverage, an expert report hired and validated by the corresponding city council will be accepted in which the destruction of the home is recorded with an assessment of it, or the damage suffered. for this or for basic necessities with an assessment thereof.
«On the other hand, it will be allowed to advance the amounts that will be received later on account of the compensation to be paid by the Insurance Compensation Consortium to cover expenses of all kinds. “Which includes everything from the re-equipment of businesses to the acquisition of household goods,” the reborn ministry explained this Tuesday. In parallel to this aid, families will also be able to access the ICO guarantee line of 5,000 million that the Government will launch to help the self-employed and companies, but also to cover damages caused to homes.
Mortgage moratorium
Likewise, affected families will be able to take advantage of the mortgage moratorium that the Government has enabled by which they are exempted from payment obligations for a period of three months both for the payment of principal of loans and credits as well as interest. Nine additional months are also offered in which those affected can suspend the payment of the principal regardless of whether they have a mortgage guarantee. Applications may be made within a period of three months from the entry into force of the Royal Decree-Law approved today by the Council of Ministers.
