The cold weather has already caused some headaches, as people were unable to get into their cars or move them from their places this morning. There is also a new phenomenon: frozen charging cables.
It is a bit of a cold day and the whole of the Netherlands is experiencing inconvenience. Now it wasn't too bad today in terms of traffic jams. In fact, it was relatively quiet. The undersigned was able to commute to Berkel and Rodenrijs in one go without reaching 104 km/h on the cruise control (that is exactly 100 on the GPS).
Frozen charging cables
No, in this case it concerns those people who already made calls to the roadside assistance this morning. Their car no longer functioned properly due to the cold. Now it wasn't that cold, but the doors or handbrakes of several cars were frozen solid.
With electric cars, there were people who suffered from frozen charging cables. That is of course a lasting but ironic phenomenon. You drive electric to combat global warming and then your charging cable is frozen!
There were also some battery problems. This mainly occurred in cars that had hardly been driven due to the Christmas holidays and were now suddenly too cold. How many numbers are actually involved?
No fewer than 6,000 reports today
Well, that's what the team was looking for nu.nl out at the ANWB. A spokesperson told the news publication that approximately 6,000 reports will be received today. Most of these have to do with the cold weather.
In short, the cold weather has started again. This will continue for a while, at least until Thursday. Then temperatures will fluctuate between -6 (at night) and +1 (during the day), depending on the location, of course. It is only during the weekend that the mercury will rise above freezing at night.
