The time, both the post-historical and the meteorological, incite us to the pessimistic drift, to the apocalyptic peroratos: ‘Everything is fatal’, ‘We are in La Mugre’, ‘The dandruff is so much that we can ski in it’, ‘The museums are in decline of so much roll’ Woke ‘,’ I don’t feel my legs’. And yet, when something great appears and the words are missing to praise without a shadow of doubt.
The day of the inauguration of ‘free buffet’ in Centrocenter, Literally, we were crowded. It was not because they gave beers or fried potatoes. It was simply a manifestation and not only an exhibition of a vibrant artistic context and wanting not to get carried away by depressing inertia.
Javier Díaz-Guardiola has managed to make the need virtue and, in a small space or even ‘devilish’, manages to effectively show what the Fueradcarta project implies. In 2017, Patricia Mateo and José Luis López Moral They launch a collection dedicated to presenting contemporary creators: small format books, almost cards, in rolls of one hundred copies that contain an original work, at the modest price of twenty euros.
Promote collecting
As the editors declare, the objective is to promote collecting, from those little works by contemporary artists and, at the same time, offer what they call “an atlas of the current artistic panorama of our country.” Fortunately there is no ‘encyclopedic’ will, nor prolong the rhetoric of the archival, but rather nourish a friendly context in which there is no ‘orthodox’ filter.
Until today they have published 71 books with the aim of arriving at hundredSantiago Ydáñez, Avelino Sala, Che Marchesi, Silvia Lermo, Roberto González Fernández, Cristina Toledo, David Tullo,Ángel Haro, Marta Barrenechea, Sandra Val… creators of different generations and styles, from consecrated teachers to young people who begin to configure their aesthetics, always taking care of the editions, primarily selecting the images. We have here a panorama, partial and passionate, for remembering some of the distinctive notes of art criticism according to Baudelaire, the best that is being composed in an artistic scene that, despite everything, is still underway.

If, as I have indicated, in the opening ceremony it was not possible to surrender to ‘abracism’ and share satisfaction with the deserved recognition of this artistic-editorial initiative, when it is contemplated, as I have already been able to do on two other occasions, calmly, calmly the sequence of the booklets and the works in that double center of center, it is clear that it is more than a ‘fun’.
Next to the complete collection of Fueradcarta,Javier Díaz-Guardiola It presents pieces of about twenty of the authors who have participated in the project. These are small format pieces, but I would like to suggest it, especially ‘synthetic’. I allow me to highlight the sublime photo of Paula Anta, The portrait of that woman who looks at us challenging by YDÁÑEZ, The classic bust without a sowing of the anti-channel of Mateo Maté, that disturbing abstraction of Verbis, The image of the bag of Teresa Moro or the extraordinary woman who paints Juana González, A creator who is passionate about.
If in a buffet ‘ranch’ is usually used and the amount is imposed on quality, in the presentation of Fueradcarta what we have are tasty ‘delicatesen’, works and books that will delight those who still look for something beautiful and lucid in the strange system of art.
‘Free buffet. (Almost) a decade of fueradcarta ‘
Collective.Centrocentro. Madrid. Pl. Cibeles, 1. Commissioner: Javier Díaz-Guardiola. Until September 28. Four stars.
The pencil that Isidro López Aparicio has built with less than ten dollar bills allegorizes the inflation of the artistic and, at the same time, of geopolitics. Thanks to a simple and effective wall full of attractive and minimal works we can enjoy and write with an anomalous enthusiasm.
