France presented the LG1 Mk.3 towed howitzer at the DSA 2024 exhibition
The Franco-German consortium KNDS presented an upgraded version of the LG1 light towed howitzer at the Defense Services Asia (DSA) 2024 exhibition in Malaysia. The weapon was developed by the French company Nexter, part of the consortium. reports Army Recognition.
“This artillery system is designed to meet the mobility and efficiency needs of modern militaries, especially in environments where rapid deployment is critical,” the statement said.
The firing range of the LG1 Mk.3 is 17 kilometers. The gun received a remote firing system, which allows the crew to control it from cover. The howitzer is also equipped with a portable ballistic computer BACARA, which allows the use of adjustable projectiles.

The basic version of the LG1, caliber 105 millimeters, was adopted in 1992. The 1.6-ton weapon can be towed by any truck and transported on the external sling of helicopters. The howitzer can use shells with a bottom gas generator G3, which provide maximum firing range.
In January, Popular Mechanics wrote that the M777 towed howitzers used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces are vulnerable to return fire due to insufficient mobility.
