On the occasion of the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, Netease presented FragPunka new 5v5 multiplayer hero shooter genre which tries to distinguish itself from other exponents of the genre with a card-based system.
The game will be available during 2025 on PC and Xbox (the landing on PS5 has not been confirmed for the moment) and was presented with a first trailer which offers us a small taste of the game dynamics.
Papers and bullets
As we can see in the video, in FragPunk players can take on the role of various heroes, each specialized in different areas and equipped with unique abilities. Various can be used in the game cards to activate effects which have a great impact on game dynamics.
For example, the “Strange Herbs” card causes thick vegetation to grow throughout the map, drastically reducing visibility and benefiting stealth-focused characters. “Big Heads”, on the other hand, enlarges the heads of enemies beyond belief, to the delight of the characters with sniper rifles.
