Agents of the Civil Guard and the National Police arrested, in a joint operation, four people from Extremadura as alleged perpetrators of 46 crimes of fraud through online sales in 17 Spanish provinces, including Murcia.
This is the result of the 'Herrecol-Solar' operation, which began last June, when the team specialized in cybercrime investigation of the Badajoz Civil Guard became aware of several scams suffered by neighbors when purchasing material. photovoltaic advertised on well-known Internet buying and selling portals.
As the proceedings progressed, the criminal involvement of a group of four residents from different Extremaduran municipalities was discovered, who were also under investigation by the Technological and Financial Group of the Badajoz National Police for similar events.
With the exchange of information and collaboration of both bodies, it was confirmed how these fraudsters began their criminal activity by inserting advertisements on well-known Internet platforms to sell photovoltaic material, at prices much lower than those of the market, to attract the attention of potential buyers.
When the victims were interested in the items offered, the scammer “gave them a false sense of reliability and trust, convincing them to make the payment in advance using different methods such as Bizum or transfers,” according to the National Police and the Civil Guard. Once the payment was made, the scammers did not send the items and did not meet the buyers' requirements. Through these criminal actions they allegedly carried out 46 scams reported in 17 Spanish provinces, including Murcia, with which they could have obtained an economic benefit of around 24,000 euros.
Once the scammers were identified, one of them a resident of the Cáceres town of Miajadas, and the others from Herrera del Duque, Fuenlabrada de los Montes and Helechosa, a search device was established, which culminated in the location, arrest and investigation of all they. It was found out that, in addition, the man from Miajada was wanted for three court orders for his arrest and three others for location and appearance searches in different courts. The proceedings carried out have been made available to the Trujillo Investigative Courts.
