Athletic – Betis
The man from Castellón de la Plana excitedly wore a t-shirt with the message “Fuerza Valencia” after scoring his team’s goal in San Mamés (1-1)
Tremendously special day, emotional, but also painful and full of mixed sensations for the Betic Pablo Fornals, who was closely touched by the DANA tragedy in Valencia, because it is his land, that of his loved ones. Fornals was the direct protagonist of the great point achieved by Betis against a powerful Athletic Club in San Mamés. He scored his team’s goal by impeccably finishing off a service from the right by Assane Diao on the edge of the court.
Then it was emptied into the celebration… pure feeling on the surface, memories, looking into the distance. Fornals took out a t-shirt that read ‘Fuerza Valencia’. A personal wink to all the people who are suffering so much from the devastating tragedy in the Mediterranean basin.
Pablo Fornals was visibly affected at that moment, with a contorted face and tears in his eyes. He is a native of Castellón de la Plana, so the disaster has affected his environment very closely.
After the game, he spoke to the DAZN cameras, again visibly affected: “We can’t control what the environment does, but we can control how some things are done… Today was not a day to celebrate anything or play, but we had than being here.”
