Formula 1 | Max Verstappen was far from the pole position in Singapore – The time trial ended in a furious argument with the team

Charles Leclerc was the fastest in the qualifying session of the F1 series in Singapore. World Championship leader Max Verstappen stayed in the eighth grid.

Formula overwhelmingly leading the number one World Series Max Verstappen finished eighth in the Singapore qualifying.

Verstappen was driving his last timed lap to the finish line, when the team unexpectedly told him to come to the pits. The driver did not understand the order at all, but obeyed.

“What the hell, what do you mean? Unbelievable. I don’t understand what this is really about?” the Dutchman raged on the team radio.

He drove a Ferrari to the pole position Charles Leclerc. He overtook Red Bull in a super-exciting time trial by Sergio Perez by 0.022 seconds and Mercedes Lewis Hamilton by 0.054 seconds.

Stalls and the drivers feverishly ponder tire choices throughout qualifying. The track was already almost dry after the afternoon rains, but individual puddles in some corners made using dry weather tires risky.

In the last qualifying section, they finally dared to use dry weather tires. It was so difficult to keep the rubber warm on the wet track, that exceptionally many laps in a row were run on the same worn tires.
