Formula 1 drivers Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, Sergio Pérez and Alexander Albon have already driven some laps through Las Vegas.
Next year, Formula 1 will return to the American gambling paradise for a grand prix for the first time since 1982. To promote the event, Mercedes drivers Hamilton and Russell, along with Pérez (Red Bull) and Albon (Williams), already gave a lot of gas on the famous Strip in Las Vegas last night.
The drivers entertained the audience with, among other things, some ‘donuts’. They made their cars with smoking tires circling on the asphalt during the so-called Launch Party in Vegas.
The Las Vegas GP is scheduled for November 18 next year. The race will not be held on Sunday as usual, but on a Saturday evening. A week later (November 26, 2023) the end of the season will take place in Abu Dhabi.
Las Vegas hosted two Formula 1 races in 1981 and 1982, which were held in the parking lot of Caesars Palace, the famous hotel and casino along the Strip. Next year, a larger round of 6.12 kilometers will be set out through the city, including over the Strip. Along that long boulevard are many large hotels and casinos.
The popularity of Formula 1 in the United States is increasing rapidly, partly due to the success of the Netflix series Drive to Survive. Next year, three grands prix will take place on American soil: in Miami, Austin and Las Vegas.
