The court arrested former Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Fattakhov in a corruption case
The Menzelinsky District Court arrested former Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Engel Fattakhov, who also served as Minister of Education and Science of the republic, in a criminal case of bribery. This is reported by TASS.
The ex-official was taken into custody and sent to a pre-trial detention center until July 21. According to investigators, in the period from 2018 to 2020, as head of the Aktanysh municipal district, he received a bribe from a construction company in the form of services for the reconstruction of a house in the village of Aktanysh worth 21.8 million rubles. In return, the official helped the developer obtain contracts for major repairs of the building of the Yashlek youth center worth more than 28 million rubles and at other facilities in the district.
Fattakhov served as Minister of Education of Tatarstan from 2012 to 2018, and from 2013 to 2017 he was Deputy Prime Minister of the republic. From 2018 to 2020, he headed the Aktanysh district.
On May 20, it was reported that the mayor of the city of Yenakievo in the Donetsk People’s Republic received a bribe of two ATVs for help in registering a land plot.
