A tragedy has shocked American basketball in recent hours. Former Georgetown University player Sydney Wilson has been killed at 33 years old after an incident with the Police. The former athlete was shot by an agent whom she previously attacked and wounded in the face and arm with a knife.
The events took place in the town of Reston, near Washington DCwhen a Fairfax County Police Department officer responded to a housing block responding to a call from a woman with mental health issues.
There he was received in a hostile manner by Wilson, a former college basketball player, who attacked him with a knife. Given the violent attitude of the former athlete and the danger posed by her knife, The agent finally used his weapon in self-defense. Wilson, who collapsed to the ground, received medical assistance but it was useless.
The Police defend the agent’s actions
The scene was recorded by the agent’s own body camera, whose images were later shared by the Police, who in defense of their partner argued that “it could have been much, much, much worse; “The cutting, deep and stabbing wound he received was on the upper part of his forehead.” In fact, in the images you can see how the agent bleeds profusely while reporting.
