Governors claim that no politician has the “mobilization power” of the former president; both missed the act in Copacabana
The governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado (União Brasil), and São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), agreed that the former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) is the “greatest Brazilian political leader”. The two participated this Monday (April 22, 2024) in the “Seminário Brasil Hoje 2024”, held by the group Sphere Brazilin Sao Paulo.
For Caiado, Bolsonaro's mobilization power “It’s something new”. According to him, “Nobody had the ability to do it like Bolsonaro. To, even without being entitled to future mandates, do what he did on Avenida Paulista and in Copacabana”he stated.
Tarcísio, who was Minister of Infrastructure in the government of the former Chief Executive, declared that no other politician can “establish a movement” like Bolsonaro.
TARCÍSIO AND CAIADO MISS ACT
Despite the statements, the governors of São Paulo and Goiás did not attend the event held by Bolsonaro in Copacabana, Rio, on Sunday (21 April). The former president gathered around 40,000 to 45,000 people to show political strength through popular demonstrations, as he did on Avenida Paulista, in São Paulo, on February 25.
The governors of Rio de Janeiro, Claudio Castro (PL), and Santa Catarina, Jorginho Mello (PL), also allies of the former president, were present, but did not speak like other supporters of the former president.
Tarcísio, however, praised the act on social media. “President Bolsonaro today is more than the greatest Brazilian leader, he is a movement that grows stronger every day […] Always count on me, president”he wrote.
