Football|The referee stopped the Veikkausliiga match in August.
Referee Mohammad Al-Emara interrupted the AC Oulu–FC Inter Veikkausliiga match played in Oulu on August 10, because he heard racist shouting from the stands.
“The match was stopped today once again – I don’t know if it will be the first time this season in Finnish football – because of the racist behavior of the crowd,” Al-Emara said in an interview with Ruudu right after the game.
The match was played after a short break, but the shouter has not been found.
The identity of the caller is not known to the police, but they want to find out. The police announced on Monday, September 9 that they are asking for observations about the suspected defamation that happened.
According to the police, the scream came from the serving area of the stadium’s main stand in the 80th minute of the match.
The police ask anyone with information about the matter to report their information to the hotline on 0295 416194 or by email [email protected].
About racism in August there was a fresh uproar. Referee Al-Emara praised the teams for being well involved in the fight against racism, but called for the responsibility of match organizers and spectators.
AC Oulu interpreted referee Al-Emara as saying that the Oulu club accepts racism. The club has strongly emphasized that it does not accept racism.
Al-Emara later confirmed that the shout to which he reacted in the match was “fuck the referee from Finland”.
