In its centenary year Kuopio Palloseura ended the women’s National League season with a championship celebration in front of their home crowd. KuPS, who already secured the championship last weekend, defeated bronze team Åland United 4–3 in the final round on Saturday.
The teams scored 2-2 in the first eight minutes. Ana Paula Silva Santos completed the winning goal from the penalty kick in the 81st minute.
The championship was already the third in a row for KuPS, who scored 56 points. The team also won the Finnish Cup at the beginning of October. The silver team HJK collected 49 points in the league and Åland United 43 points.
Oulu’s ONS finished last in the league’s challenger series and was relegated to the 1st next season. TPS has a league qualifier against Ykkönen’s second team PKKU, and JyPK went directly to the league as the winner of Ykkönen.
HJK striker Lotta Lindström won the National League hitter with 17 shutouts.
