Ronaldo’s hat trick brought victory to Tottenham.
Attacking star Cristiano Ronaldo was the absolute star of the match when Manchester United knocked out Tottenham’s 3–2 football in the English Premier League on Saturday.
Ronaldo scored all the goals of his team and at the same time made the history of the Premier League.
His previous hat trick came 14 years and 59 days ago in 2008 when ManU smashed Newcastle’s reading 6-0. The time between hat tricks is the longest ever in Premier League history.
At the same time, Ronaldo became the second oldest hat trick maker in the Premier League at the age of 37 and 35 days. Only the Tottenham icon Teddy Sheringham succeeded as a parent at the age of 37 years and 146 days.
The statistical service Opta tells about this.
The hat trick was Ronaldo’s 49th career, and he has now managed to do at least one hat trick for 13 consecutive seasons.
On Saturday, Ronaldo started the game with a great shot from the right 25 minutes into the match after 12 minutes.
Harry Kane equalized after 35 minutes, but Ronaldo made an excellent save, tipping the awkwardly curled shot past the post.
In the second half, Tottenham came to the levels Harry Maguiren with his own goal but in the end Ronaldo took care of the hosts score by definitely pushing the ball into the net Alex Tellesin from the corner kick.
Thanks to the victory, ManU will continue to fight for the fourth place qualifying for the Champions League. However, the team has played more matches than the worst competitors, so not everything is in the team’s own hands.
