The athlete from Valle del Cauca Flor Denis Ruiz qualified for the javelin throw final of the Olympic Games 2024after surpassing the minimum required mark of 62 meters, leaving the bar at 6.40 this Wednesday in Paris.
According to the criteria of
Ruiz had the option of beating the record on three occasions, but like the rest of his rivals he did it only once in order to have more time to rest and not push himself harder.
The Colombian arrived at the Games as a silver medalist in the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary (65.47 m), a competition in which she was defeated in the last attempt by the Japanese Haruka Kitiguchi (66.73 m).
Both are candidates to win a medal in Paris and the Japanese athlete also made a difference, in her first attempt to qualify she made it to the final with 62.58 m.
