In Bangladesh, officials confirmed that more than half a million people were stranded after floods resulting from heavy rains submerged large areas of land in Sylhet Province, located in the northeast of the country. In Afghanistan, at least 20 people, including women and children, died yesterday after the boat they were traveling in sank in a river in Nangarhar province in the east of the country.
