Flexible MacBooks within 2 years: two versions planned, the largest 20-inch

According to new information provided by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple plans to launch its own Foldable MacBooks in 2026. This launch is a year ahead of previous predictions, which indicated 2027. The new generation of foldable devices could represent a significant turning point for Apple, offering innovative 18.8 and 20-inch foldable screens.

The new foldable MacBook will be available in two screen size variants. The 20-inch model, once closed, will have the size of a traditional 14-15 inch MacBook, while the 18.8-inch model will approximate a 13-14-inch MacBook. The collaboration with LG Display aims to develop a foldable screen without visible creases, thus improving the aesthetics and functionality of the device.

Mass production of the new foldable displays could begin as early as late next year, with the devices ready to ship in 2026. The new MacBooks will be equipped with Apple’s M5 processorensuring high performance and efficient resource management.

The first rumors about the foldable MacBook date back to 2022, when analyst Ross Young reported Apple’s project. Subsequently, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman confirmed the existence of an iPad/MacBook hybrid with dual screens and no physical keyboard. Additionally, Korean publication The Elec reported that Apple was working on devices with foldable displays made by Samsung.

Apple won’t just limit itself to the foldable MacBook. In parallel, the company is developing prototypes of foldable iPhones, which fold horizontally, and a foldable iPad, still in the early stages of development.
