Three men – of German, Ukrainian and Bulgarian nationality – were arrested this Sunday in Paris after having installed three coffins in front of the Eiffel Tower, covered with the French flag and an inscription that said “French soldiers of Ukraine.”
This action recalls and could be linked, according to different local media, to the red hands that appeared on the Shoah monument last month, as well as the blue Stars of David painted on facades in different neighborhoods of the capital. French at the end of October.
Regarding this last fact, the French intelligence services, cited by the newspaper Le Monde, pointed to the FSB, the Russian intelligence services, as responsible.
Although it is still unknown who was in charge of the most recent event, the first investigations by the Paris Prosecutor’s Office suggest that the strange action could be a foreign interference, probably from Russia, to cloud the atmosphere in France ahead of the European elections.
On the contrary, other sources consider that the debate that French President Emmanuel Macron recently provoked, by putting on the table a possible deployment of Western troops to help Ukrainians in the face of Russian aggression, is the cause of this new manifestation.
”By placing the coffins we try to influence voters who are afraid that Paris will go to war and cost the lives of French soldiers,” says Eusebio Val, a reporter in Paris for The vanguard.

The driver of the vehicle, as well as the two men in charge of installing the coffins, admitted to the Prosecutor’s Office that they had received a payment of 120 and 400 euros, respectively, according to Le Parisien.

The three men were arrested and brought to justice by the Parisian authorities. Hours later they were released as “assisted testimonies,” this same media reported.
The Directorate of Proximity Security of the Paris Agglomeration (DSPAP), cited by Le Mondebelieves that The detainees were in contact with a 34-year-old Bulgarian who also participated in the red hands operation.
France, the first country to send military instructors to Ukraine
French President Emmanuel Macron has also been the first Western leader to openly raise the possibility of deploying soldiers in Ukraine if the situation continues to deteriorate on the front and Russia advances towards the cities of Odessa and kyiv.
“Ukraine is sadly in the hands of the West, whose goal is a strategic defeat of Russia on the battlefield,” Lavrov said.
Regarding the peace summit called for this June 15 and 16 by Switzerland at the Ukrainian initiative, Lavrov reiterated the Kremlin’s position, which this Tuesday described it as “absurd.”
It does not matter if they are soldiers of the French Armed Forces or mercenaries: they are legitimate targets for our Army
For his part, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned this Tuesday that the military instructors sent by France to Ukraine are a “legitimate objective” for the Russian Army.
“I have every reason to believe that these instructors are already working on Ukrainian territory. It does not matter whether they are soldiers of the French Armed Forces or mercenaries: they are legitimate targets for our Army,” Lavrov declared at a press conference in the Congolese city of Oyo on the occasion of his official visit to the Republic of the Congo (Congo-Brazzaville).
