In 2022, Crystal Dynamics revealed that they were working on a new game of tomb Raider, which would be part of another reboot for the series. However, considering the cancellation of projects and layoffs of workers at Embracer Group, many were concerned about the status of this title. Fortunately, The studio has assured that Lara Croft's next adventure is still onand they have shared the first official look at this character.
Through the Official site from Tomb Raider, the exclusive members of this page received a wallpaper that gives us the first official look at Lara Croft. Here we can see a design that finds the middle point between what we saw in the last trilogy and Tomb Raider: Legacy Larasomething that has excited more than one fan.
However, at the moment there is no more information about this project. The only piece of concrete information we have is that The next Tomb Raider game is being developed with Unreal Engine 5, so it will only come to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Outside of this, we don't have an idea of when it will be available, what the story is about, or any other details that would give us an idea of the state of development.
Considering that Embracer Group acquired Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal in 2022, this after Square Enix put its Western studios up for sale, many have worried about the status of this project, especially in recent months. Not only has the team remained silent for a long time, but layoffs and project cancellations were recently announced at its parent company, something that, at least so far, has not affected those responsible for the next Tomb Raider.
We just have to wait for more information to come to light.. On related topics, here you can check out this comparison between the first Tomb Raider and its remasters. Likewise, Tomb Raider will have its own anime.
Editor's Note:
Although it's too early to have a clear idea of the direction this reboot will take, fans are more than happy with the work Crystal Dynamics did with the latest games in the series. In this way, it is clear that the only thing to worry about is whether Embracer Group decides to cancel this project or not.
