Firespritethe British firm acquired by Sony last September, it moved offices to a space 20 times larger. The developer is working on Horizon Call of the Mountain for PS VR2 in collaboration with Guerrilla Games, but is one of the biggest teams at PlayStation Studios and they are known to have several projects in the works.
The team is currently based at the Vanilla Factory in Liverpool, but the company will move to another location just a three-minute walk away, covering a total of 4,645 square meters. It consists of four buildings, one of which used to be a Liverpool public library, and the lease will run until at least 2032.
In addition to the virtual reality game in the world of Horizon, rumors say it is the studio responsible for the Twisted Metal reboot. Earlier this year they signed a deal with Motorstorm director Matt Southern presumably for this project. There is also at least one narrative-based first-person shooter horror game in Unreal Engine 5, a genre they have experience with with The Persistence.
Firesprite was founded in 2012 by former members of Studio Liverpool, the former Psygnosis, following the announcement of its closure. The team was known for a multitude of games for the first PlayStation, although the most famous were the Wipeout saga and several chapters of Formula 1.
